Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Review

The company markets Samsung as Galaxy Z flip as its second gen folding device and first gen Galaxy Z. Galaxy Z, is an amazing device, a combination of old form factor and latest Hideaway Hinge with flexible display.
The Amolet screen has a punch hole 10 MP selfie camera. Samsung also introduced a new protective layer on screen, which is called as Ultra Thin Glass. It is a polymer material, not as scratch resistant as a typical gorilla glass.
The features of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip are not unfamiliar, but they are also not midrange. It has all the flagship features. We can say that there is a Flagship Galaxy phone inside this new folding body.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Hardware and Design

Design is the only feature which sets it apart from other devices. The device folds into a beautiful compact footprint. The new hinge, updated from Galaxy Fold improves folding action and prevents dust from entering. The hinge will not remain open at any angle. You need to move it to 40 degrees before the hinge stiffens, otherwise it snaps open or close. The bumper is completed hidden when the screen completely opens. Both halves are covered with Gorilla Glass 6 and are protected in Glossy Aluminum. The finish is like a tinted silver, which complements the reflections.
On the back of the upper half, there is a dual-camera with LED flash. On the upper left side, there is a nano SIM card slot, but the micro SD card slot is missing. So, 256 GB is the only storage configuration available.
On the upper right side of frame, there are Aluminum volume buttons. It also has a flat power key with an integrated finger print scanner.
The top of the phone has a small microphone. The bottom has main USB-C port, in call mic and a mini loud speaker port. There is no headphone jack.
There is a protective plastic border in the perimeter, which keeps the dust away when phone is fold.
The overall design is elegant, curvy, attractive and well executed. However, its touch surface is not as durable as Samsung markets it to be.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Display

If we are concerned with numbers only. The display specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip satisfy what Samsung claims it to be. The ultra thin glass is covered with a plastic polymer. It is very easy to damage, If pressed slightly harder, even the finger nail leaves the mark. Samsung officially warns against pressing harder on the screen or lens. It also warns, not to install screen protectors. Buyers of galaxy Z Flip will soon get a uBreakiFix screen protector free.
You can feel the folding crease if you run your fingers through the screen. However, in day to day use, we did not notice it.
If you are using the polarized sunglasses, its impossible to view the display.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Battery
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has the dual battery, rated at 3300 mAh. 930 mAh in the upper half and 2370 mAh in the lower half, which helps equal weight distribution. The phone supports wireless fast charge but only the maximum of 15 W of wired charge. This can be achieved with included charger. The battery timing is not too bad. As it provides the talk time of 27 hours and web/video time of 15 hours. It is suggested that you keep the charger in your car or daily bag.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Performance
The snapdragon 855+ powers the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, which seems appropriate. It only comes with the 8 GB ram paired with 256 GB storage. The internal storage is UFS 3.0, which provides faster R/W speed, app loads and fewer stutters in the UI. This chipset is an octa-core CPU consisting of 1x.2.96GHz Kryo 485 core, 3x lower clocked 2.42GHz Kryo 485 cores and four more Kryo 485 cores ticking at 1.8GHz for the less demanding tasks. The Adreno 640 clocked at 700MHz takes care of the GPU-intensive tasks. Using the Qualcomm chip, Samsung did not compromise performance. In day to day use, the phone did not hesitate to do any task even with many apps open.
